Sophie’s Save

Sophie’s work on Edward’s branch-line was going very well for them as she shunts coaches and trucks and takes small goods train to the yard, Edward let’s Sophie double-head his train with him so she can see the whole line. BoCo and Bianca was also proud of her work but the other engines were not as they still think she’s like Diesel and could easily replace any engine’s job at anytime, Sophie was transferred to work at the main yard of Edward’s branch-line along with BoCo.

“You have done a grand job at this yard” said BoCo “you can easily shunt coaches or trucks”.

“Well…. I always do” said Sophie “it’s kind of the thing my brothers and I do”.

“True” said BoCo knowing “have you have worked with steam engines before?”

“y-yes” said Sophie quickly and shuddering abit when BoCo mentioned the word ‘steam engine’ and also tries to answer it quickly.

“Are you ok?” asks BoCo.

“Yes, yes I’m fine alright” said Sophie, rolling off quickly leaving BoCo with a very confused look.

“What was that about?” he asks to himself glaring after the Class 10 until she was gone.

BoCo was confused about this all day he even told Edward and Bianca about it.

“She might not want to talk about her past working life” said Edward, he just goes off silence remembering the days of he and Thomas building the line along with another engine “Annabelle…..” his mind kept on saying.

“Edward, Edward.....Edward?!” called Bianca.

“Huh….. w-w-what?” said Edward kicking back in to reality looking at Bianca and BoCo.

“Are you ok?” asks Bianca.

“Yes, yes fine” said Edward and back he in to his shed.

Bianca only agrees and puffs off to find Sophie; BoCo backs in next to Edward

“It’s Annabelle is it” said BoCo “you can’t stop thinking about her”.

“Yes, it is her” said Edward “Sophie…….sort of reminds me of her”.

“I see” said BoCo knowledgeably and he rolls off knowing that his friend needs some time alone.

Meanwhile Bianca sees Sophie shunting some trucks when Duck goes by with a large passenger train.

“Are you ok?” asks Bianca.

“Yes, yes I’m alright” said Sophie, as she backs in to a siding to rest and let Duck go by with his passenger train.

Duck puffs all the way towards the main station at his Branch-Line towards a large hill but when his half a way up the hill he stops in the middle of the hill as steam blows everywhere.

“w-what happen?” asks Duck, and his crew finds out that his cylinder has failed and that it has a damaged hole throw it.

“Now what?” asks the guard.

“We will need an engine to help Duck to the station it’s where the works is” said the driver.

Princess Luna hears about this and sends out Sophie to help with the train.
When Sophie arrives at the hill, Duck was surprised but knowing he was in trouble himself he gives a smile as Sophie couples on to him and pulls him, Duck gives all the help he can and the two engines pulls the train all the way to the main station on Duck’s Branch-Line were Bianca was to take the train on.

Princess Luna was also there and she talks with Duck and Sophie.

“You both did good work” said Princess Luna “Duck you will go to the works and get a new cylinder”.

“Yes ma’am” said Duck.

“Sophie you can rest as BoCo does your work” said Princess Luna, smiling proudly at the out of breath Class 10.

“y-yes ma’am” said Sophie, and she smiles at Duck as he smiles back.

A few weeks after that Duck and Sophie becomes friends, Princess Luna and Duck let Sophie take passenger trains on both Duck and Edward’s Branch-Lines with their help obviously, until one day Edward was had to go in for an overhaul so BoCo runs the branch-lines with Bianca’s help as Sophie does the goods work, but will she be ok with this work.

That I must say is another story……….
